Finding Your People
A Series About Friendship
Why friendship becomes one of the most important discipleship tools for autism parents.
One of the greatest ironies of autism parenting is that the season when you need people the most is often the season when friendships become the hardest to maintain.
Your calendar changes.
Your availability changes.
Your conversations change.
Sometimes even your friends change.
Suddenly, the people you used to see every week slowly drift away—not because anyone intended for it to happen, but because your life no longer fits the rhythms everyone else seems to be living.
If you’ve ever wondered, Where did everyone go? you’re not alone.
But here’s what I’ve learned.
God never intended for us to walk this road alone.
The posts below are a three-part series adapted from the letter “Friendship,” in Volume 2 of Letters to Lindsey: Seeing Your Child’s Autism Diagnosis Through A Gospel Lens.
Because friendship isn’t just something that’s nice to have.
It’s one of God’s primary means of helping us endure the race we are running toward eternity.
